Running and Canning

A couple of weeks ago I ran a half marathon in Surprise. It was so much fun! I've only done two half marathons, but they were both so fun and rewarding that it makes me want to do more! The run started at 7:00 so it was just barely getting light when the starting gun fired. We ran 6 1/2 miles up White Tank Mountain Regional Park and then turned around and went back. The mountains were gorgeous and the crisp desert scenery was breathtaking. I got to listen to NPR and my favorite music for the entire run so it really doesn't get better than that. Ben and Tommy were great cheerleaders and I love them so much for coming to support me. I proudly finished in 2 hrs. 21 min.

My rosy-cheeked boy giving me a love before the race began.

By the time we got home and Tommy lined up his cars he was exhausted! That's hard work!

The next week for Family Home Evening we did a little dry pack canning for our food storage. I've had a bag of dry milk and a bag of oats lying across our pantry floor for months, making it hard to get to anything else in there. It was definitely time to get it out of the way! We were both a little apprehensive about using the canner, but it was actually really easy and really fast. We got twenty cans sealed in about an hour! Now it's time to get started on some rice and wheat...
