Halloween 2013

We had a busy Halloween this year! This is the first year that Tommy was super excited about the hype of Halloween: the decorations, the pumpkins, even his costume. Every year until now we have dressed him up to go trick-or-treating, but that's the beginning and ending of it all. This year it seems like we were getting geared up for Halloween all month long.

We painted pumpkins with the kids.
We visited a pumpkin patch where we got to go on this fun hayride.
It was foggy the morning we went to the pumpkin patch. Isn't it so eerie and spooky?
We went to the Children's Museum for an evening of trick-or-treating and special events. We had to wait for an hour just to get into the museum and then it was crazy and crowded when we did finally get admitted. They cancelled most of the special events because they weren't expecting such a huge turnout. The kids had fun, though, and they got lots of good candy.
The kids got to play with clay in the museum, which they enjoyed. That was probably the calmest part of the whole evening :)
We carved our pumpkin. Ben did all the knife-wielding.
I did all the gut-scooping while Tommy looked through his spy magnifying glass.
We finally went trick-or-treating. Tommy was a spy. Lily was a super princess. She didn't like her crown. Ben's mom made these costumes. Aren't they amazing?
These are our trick-or-treating buddies. By the end of the night the kids were so tired from marching all over the neighborhood and carrying their candy that they begged us to go home.

Now the kids are enjoying their Halloween candy. We don't put any rules on their candy. They can eat it as fast or as slow as they want to. Tommy portions his out pretty well and eats a few candies after each meal. Lily wants to unwrap all of her candy, but then she takes one bite and wants to move on to the next one. I figure the sooner they eat it up, the sooner we can be done with it :) Happy Halloween everyone!
